My lab studies phylogenetic relationships of angiosperms, in particular of the family Leguminosae (Fabaceae), with the ultimate objective of producing stable classification systems that reflect evolutionary relationships. We generate sequence data and examine morphological characters to understand floral evolution in a phylogenetic context and to study the changing dynamics of plant distributions across the world and through time.
