Project
CanadensysEstablished in 2006 at Université de Montréal through a major grant from the Canada Foundation for Innovation, Canadensys makes Canadian biodiversity information freely and openly available to everyone with emphasis on the digitization of specimens from biological collections. Ten years later, Canadensys is a powerful Canadian network including universities, museums, ministries, etc., which has published on the web more than 3 million records about the rich diversity of life in Canada. Canadensys is an active member of the Global Biodiversity Information Facility - GBIF -, and it has developed the skills and technology in this research area. The Canadensys expertise in biodiversity informatics is also illustrated through international mentoring in countries such as Colombia, Brazil, Uruguay. The Canadensys network headquarter is located at the Biodiversity Centre of UdeM in the heart of the Montréal Botanical Garden.
