Vulnerability and adaptability: Predicting effects of climate change on Africa's inland fisheries
My doctoral research focuses on predicting the effects of climate change on African inland fisheries, with an emphasis on the Nile perch fishery of the Lake Victoria basin in East Africa. I use a cross-disciplinary approach employing both quantitative (meta-analysis, experiments) and qualitative (interviews, surveys) methodologies to integrate social, ecological, and fish physiology data for a holistic understanding of the vulnerability and adaptive capacity of Africa’s freshwater fisheries to environmental stressors related to climate change.
