Project

Using invertebrate DNA (iDNA) to inventory vertebrate fauna
I am using iDNA to inventory vertebrates in Canadian temperate forests. The project aims to (1) use traditional methods to sample vertebrate diversity (large and small mammals, birds) in a limited geographical area and (2) compare it with iDNA data obtained from invertebrates sampled at the same time. Fieldwork will take place in the forests around Mount Kaiikop in the Laurentians (QC). This master's project is being conducted in partnership with the Coalition Conservation Mont Kaaikop and MITACS. The results of this master's thesis will make it possible to evaluate the robustness of this innovative approach in the context studied, as well as its feasibility on a larger geographical scale.
