Effects of temperature on resource competition in phytoplankton
I am testing theoretical predictions for how temperature effects competition for resources across multiple phytoplankton species and relating these changes to species' metabolic rate and body size changes with temperature. Then, I will determine whether I can use these parameters to predict how competitive dominance changes with temperature. This project will help with predictions of species range shifts in future climate scenarios by taking into account individual thermal performance and the effects of temperature on species interactions.
