Project
Applications of Environmental Nucleic Acids in the Light of Their State, Transport, Persistence, and DegradationMy project, "Applications of Environmental Nucleic Acids in the Light of Their State, Transport, Persistence, and Degradation," is a comprehensive study conducted at McGill University. This research explores the intricate behaviors of environmental DNA (eDNA) and RNA (eRNA) in aquatic systems, focusing on their stability, movement, and degradation processes. A significant aspect of my project includes sampling eNAs not only from traditional aquatic sources but also from air and soil, providing a comprehensive biodiversity assessment across multiple environmental matrices. This approach is crucial for developing robust, non-invasive biomonitoring techniques that enhance our understanding of biodiversity and population health. Furthermore, the project supports the development of standardized eDNA methods and contributes to long-term monitoring initiatives in Quebec.
