Project

Resilience of seagrass ecosystems in Saint Lawrence estuary
Seagrass meadows form valuable ecosystems in coastal environments providing numerous ecological services. In Saint Lawrence estuary, shore ice strongly influence seagrass dynamic. It largely destroys seagrass leaves during wintertime and may also remove large and deep plots of seagrass, forming long lasting tidal pool. Despite the strong impact on spatial heterogeneity of seagrass meadow at the seascape level, the latter process remains poorly documented. The overall aim of this project is to assess seagrass resilience in Saint Lawrence Estuary with particular focus on macrobenthic communities and coastal eutrophication.
