Project

Fitness, senescence, and foraging behaviour in the Black-legged Kittiwake (Rissa tridactyla)
I will examine the link between age and reproductive success in the Black-legged Kittiwake, a long-lived seabird. I have deployed GPS-accelerometers on age-known kittiwakes in order to examine foraging behaviour and age: where the birds go, how long they spend foraging, energy expenditure, and more. Furthermore, I will assess muscle regeneration and how it varies with age, and have performed muscle biopsies on the same age-known kittiwakes. This will be done by examining satellite cells.
