EducationPostdoctorate, Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research, University of Colorado, USA (1996) Postdoctorate, Phytology department, Université Laval (1995) Ph.D., Biology, Université Laval (1994) M.Sc., Biology, Université Laval (1990) B.Sc., Biological sciences, Université de Montréal (1988) ResearchThe Research Laboratory on Invasive Plants (RELIP) is the only laboratory in Québec focussing almost exclusively its research effort on invasive plants and weeds. RELIP is particularly active for studying the biogeography of biological invasions, especially along river and road systems; all RELIP biogeographical works have a world (Europe - North America) or a regional perspective. RELIP is also active for studying the impact of weeds on natural ecosystems and for developing methods for controlling the spread of invasive plants. For instance, RELIP is working with ornamental plant industries for developing decision-making tools to prevent the introduction of potential weeds. A major contribution of RELIP was the foundation and coordination of the PHRAGMITES Group, a leader on research on common reed (Phragmites australis), one of the most troublesome plant invaders of northeastern North America (see: http://phragmites.crad.ulaval.ca/). Finally, RELIP is conducting several research projects in national parks, and then contributes to a better management of these exceptional natural sites.QCBS studentsPrevious students (since 2009)Siobhan GorhamPostdoctoral fellow Manzoor ShahPostdoctoral fellow Arnaud AlbertPh.D. Alexandre BergeronPh.D. Isabelle SimardPh.D. Marie-Pierre BeauvaisM.Sc.
