Projet

Wildlife Road Mortality along Highway A10 and the need for Road Mitigation Measures
The purpose of this research is to design and implement a standardized data collection protocol in order to collect information on wildlife mortality along several road stretches of interest on Highway A10. This project is being completed with the collaboration of Appalachian Corridor, a non-profit conservation organization dedicated to protecting biodiversity, habitats, and ecological connectivity in the Appalachian region of Southern Quebec. An important aspect of this research is to produce a standardized protocol which could then be replicated for several years. Based on the road-kill data collected, road mortality hotspots will be located and serve to better identify potential wildlife corridors across highway A10. This information will then serve to develop suggestions for future road mitigation measures.
