Effect of contaminants on avian corticosterone and associated behaviour
Quantifying baseline and response corticosterone levels of japanese quail (in lab, controlled environment) and thick billed murre (samples collected from field) to explore if there is any significant effect on corticosterone levels. Corticosterone levels will also be compared to results of behavioural trials utilizing tasks that have been known to have a significant relationship with stress in the literature. These tasks are neophobia, exploratory and tonic immobility behaviours.
