RechercheDr. Jessica Gillung a rejoint le département NRS en janvier 2020. Elle occupe le poste de directrice du Musée entomologique Lyman, l'une des plus grandes collections d'insectes au Canada. Le Dr Gillung a obtenu son doctorat au Bohart Museum of Entomology de UC Davis, où elle a étudié l'évolution et la taxonomie des mouches parasitoïdes spécialisées dans les araignées. Elle a ensuite travaillé comme associée postdoctorale au Danforth Lab de l'Université Cornell, où elle s'est concentrée sur l'évolution et la diversification des hyménoptères aculéates (guêpes, fourmis et abeilles urticantes). Ses recherches combinent le travail de terrain, la morphologie, les données de séquences d'ADN, la bioinformatique et les méthodes comparatives pour reconstruire l'évolution des insectes et élucider leurs schémas de diversification, englobant de multiples rangs taxonomiques, des espèces aux relations de plus haut niveau. Cette approche intégrative cherche également à comprendre comment les facteurs biotiques et abiotiques ont façonné et influencé les modèles de biodiversité des insectes.Prix et honneurs
