Project

Towards an Integration of People, Nature and Climate for Effective Marine Conservation
This project aims at investigating processes and patterns in marine conservation at the global scale. Compiling data from biodiversity, oceanography, climate change, social sciences, and economics, I provide an overview of the current state of global marine protected areas, and evaluate progress towards international agreements. Through a social-ecological lens, I try to better understand how we currently plan for conservation and how we can integrate multiple perspectives and priorities for future conservation in a changing world. Other research projects include work on ecosystem services, sea level rise, and transdisciplinary scholarship.
