Modeling the distribution of striped bass in Gaspe salmon rivers with the use of eDNA
I will create distribution maps of striped bass in three salmon rivers in the Gaspé Peninsula to address the following questions: How does the striped bass use the territory, and how does this overlap with the range of Atlantic salmon? Does the presence of striped bass influence the structure of fish and invertebrate communities in the rivers? To answer these questions, I will collect water samples from the rivers and, using hydrological parameters and ddPCR sequencing of eDNA and eRNA, model species distribution with the eDITH model. I will also reconstruct fish and inverterbrate communities in the rivers using metabarcoding.
