Project

Comparison of approaches for assessing ecological restoration in afforested riparian zones
Afforestation is a technique used worldwide to restore riparian areas in agricultural landscapes. However, the ecological processes that lead to successful restoration of riparian plant communities are still poorly understood. This project is based on a summer campaign of riparian plant surveys that will be compared to a survey conducted at the same site in 2011. This comparison allows us to use phylogenetics, taxonomic and functional trait-based approaches to determine the mechanisms of plant succession that drive forest community recovery.
