How Wildlife Uses Existing Crossing Structures in the Laurentians: Light at the End of the Tunnel? My master’s evaluates existing crossing structures such as water culverts and bridges underneath Highway 15 and the 117 road in the Laurentides region for their current effectiveness as wildlife crossing structures. Improving these structures for wildlife needs is an inexpensive way to increase connectivity and lower landscape fragmentation and road mortality when compared to building wildlife overpasses. These crossing structures will also mitigate climate change impacts by allowing a safe passage for wildlife migrating northwards.
