Project

Lyme disease emergence in Quebec under climate and land-use change, and modeling the risk for workers
The objective of this project is to provide an in-depth look at the potential risks associated with forestry workers that are active in areas where Borrelia burgdorferi (causal agent of Lyme disease) can be transmitted. With the data used, risk maps will be produced to increase our understanding of the spatial-temporal dynamics of the spirochaete, while also developing models to predict its movement using environmental and ecological data. Uniquely, this project is also taking into consideration the socio-economic factors that may be influencing Lyme disease risk to these workers.
