Viability Analysis and Distribution of Copper Redhorse (Moxostoma hubbsi)
Studying population dynamics and distribution of freshwater fishes facing extinction is becoming increasingly important to better understand how to protect them in our fast-changing climate. My project pertains to studying the endangered and endemic Copper Redhorse (Moxostoma hubbsi). Our objective is to better understand the population dynamics of Copper Redhorse and quantify their risk of extinction, and explain the distribution of the most vulnerable stage of the population, young-of-the-year, using joint species distribution models, in the hopes to inform conservation strategies.
