Multi-scale analysis of environmental factors associated with bat mortality in wind farms
Bat populations in North America, including Quebec, have been watched carefully since the emergence of several threats such as white-nose syndrome and wind farms. Actually, bats mortality monitoring is required during the first three years of operation of wind farms in Quebec in order to assess their real impacts on these small flying mammals. These follow-ups show heterogeneous mortalities from one farm to another, within the same wind farm, and a poor predictability of mortality. The objective of this project is to estimate the contribution of environmental components on the variation in the mortality rate using spatial analysis tools, for different scales.
