Project

Evaluating regional patterns of traditional wildlife harvest in northern Quebec
There has been a resurgent interest in traditional food systems and wildlife use. Recent documentation of traditional harvest is lacking for the Cree and Inuit territories of northern Quebec, but detailed data from past surveys allows to revisit harvest data using multivariate ecological approaches. This project aims to describe regional and local patterns in harvested wildlife species amongst 8 Cree and 13 Inuit communities of northern Quebec. This will help better understand the role of culture and environment in shaping current and future patterns of wildlife harvest.
