A critical test of the interspecific generality of a method for the quantification of soil "fertility"
I am interested in testing the limits of a new method for determining soil "fertility" in community ecology. This method makes it possible to quantify the "fertility" of a soil through the common response of several indicator species that are ecologically very different from each other. The development of such a method is essential to the advancement of models in plant ecology since it allows "fertility" to be measured in a generalizable and comparable way between different environments. In addition, this method offers a standardization of "fertility" measures that currently differs widely between different studies.
