Stability of phytoplankton communities
Our project focuses on the ecological and genetic mecanisms responsible for the recovery of species following a perturbation. We performed a mesocosm experiment on phytoplancton communities where we lowered the pH of the water in a press (pH kept at 5.0 for the duration of the experiement) and a pulse (pH allowed to return to normal after one acid application) treatment. We then studied the effects of that perturbation on community structure and genotype diversity (using sequencing of the ITS2).
