Investigating the effects of population size, divergence, and stress on outbreeding in fragmented populations of Salvelinus fontinalisAs governments and conservationists are turning to stocking programs to offset the decline of species abundance worldwide, an area of concern is whether or not they can produce self-sustaining populations. Deliberate outbreeding has been suggested as a tool to increase genetic diversity within these stocking programs; however outbreeding outcomes have been highly variable. My research aims to identify how population size, climate warming, and genetic divergence may jointly contribute to this variation.
