1984, BA. Hon., Classical History and Archaeology ResearchMy research themes revolve around the Middle Paleolithic and the transition to the Upper Paleolithic, with an emphasis on subsistence lifestyles and human population dispersal models. I am especially interested in the impact of climate change and connections with the paleoenvironment. Archaeozoology has also led me to do research on the paleoethology and taxonomy of equids and bone and tooth growth patterns as well as ethnoarchaeozoology studies. I currently head the ecomorphology laboratory and the Hominid Dispersals Research Group (HDRG).QCBS studentsSamuel SeuruPh.D. Relevant QCBS research themesExamples of species studiedMammalia Equidae Publications33- Temperature and precipitation regime in LGM human refugia of southwestern Europe inferred from δ13C and δ18O of large mammal remains Lécuyer C , Hillaire-Marcel C , Burke A , Julien M , Hélie J , 2021 Quaternary Science Reviews (Date Added: 2021-02-11) 32- Archaeological Survey in Guadalajara: Human Occupation in Central Spain during the Late Pleistocene Burke A , Alcaraz-Castaño M , Cardineau C A , Bisson M , Cuartero F , Maillo-Fernández J M , Fuertes-Prieto N , Yravedra Sainz de los Terreros J , 2020 Journal of Field Archaeology (Date Added: 2020-12-11) 31- Issues of theory and method in the analysis of Paleolithic mortuary behavior: A view from Shanidar Cave Pomeroy E , Hunt C O , Reynolds T , Abdulmutalb D , Asouti E , Bennett P , Bosch M , Burke A , Farr L , Foley R , French C , Frumkin A , Goldberg P , Hill E , Kabukcu C , Lahr M M , Lane R , Marean C , Maureille B , Mutri G , Miller C E , Mustafa K A , Nymark A , Pettitt P , Sala N , Sandgathe D , Stringer C , Tilby E , Barker G , 2020 Evolutionary Anthropology (Date Added: 2020-07-23) 30- El Castillo cave (Cantabria, Spain): Archeozoological comparison between the Mousterian occupation level (unit 20) and the “Aurignacien de transition de type El Castillo” (unit 18) Luret M , Burke A , Bernaldo de Quiros F , Besse M , 2020 Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports (Date Added: 2020-04-24) 29- What can Palaeoclimate Modelling do for you?
