Research

Broadly, I am investigating how global drivers of change such as climate change, overexploitation and invasive species affect the structure and functioning of aquatic systems and how external factors, like habitat connectivity, and internal factors, like native species diversity, affect system resilience to these stressors. I primarily work in the Caribbean on coral reef ecosystems where I examine factors that shape community structure and functioning. From stochastic processes like hurricanes to more deterministic factors like species traits, I am interested in how these factors interact to shape coral reef fish communities.
