Research

My research integrates plant pathology, entomology, and molecular biology to tackle emerging threats in agriculture. I study the interactions between plants, pathogens (e.g., Plasmodiophora brassicae, phytoplasmas), and insect vectors in the context of climate change. Using genomics, AI, and effector biology, my team develops sustainable strategies for crop protection and insecticide reduction. I lead several national and international projects, notably LeafHope, aiming to reduce pesticide use and greenhouse gas emissions across Canada’s agri-food systems.
