Bridging Biodiversity Knowledge Gaps Through Citizen Science in Canada
Canada currently faces significant biodiversity knowledge gaps, in part because biodiversity data are not evenly distributed across the country. Over the past two summers, I have coordinated Blitz the Gap, a Canada-wide citizen science initiative that organizes local bioblitzes across the country and generally encourages community participation in such events. In my research, I will use data from Blitz the Gap and other citizen science initiatives to assess their effectiveness in reducing biodiversity knowledge gaps across Canada.
