Projet

Logging movement of rhinoceros auklets and its impact on reproductive success
By using biologgers (e.g. GPS loggers), we can follow seabirds out into the ocean and consequently, further understand the effects of climate change on marine ecosystems. My project focuses differences in habitat use between breeding stages in rhinoceros auklets (Cerorhinca monocerata), to discover the potential of the auklets as an indicator species. Yet, very little is known about the effects of handling and biologging on these birds. Therefore, my project also seeks to improve our understanding of handling effects on rhinoceros auklets so that we can best minimize our impact on the species.
