Adaption of sugar bushes to global changes
Sugar bushes are an ecosystem of cultural importance, that can generate profits as well as protect carbon stocks and local biodiversity. However, sugar bushes and the sugaring industry is intricately dependent on weather. Consequently, climate change will affect this symbolic ecosystem. Our project intends to evaluate the ecosystem services provided by sugar bushes and how they will change in a changing environment. First, we will create quantitative models to understand the influence of weather and climate on growth and maple water production. Then, these models will be used to assit the adaptation of sugar bushes to climatic changes and assure their sustainable management.
