ProjectEvaluating the Effectiveness of Community-Led Reforestation and Carbon Sequestration Initiatives: A Case Study in Eastern Panama
I am working on two community-led reforestation and carbon sequestration project with Indigenous Emberá communities in eastern Panama. I’m interested in developing community centered initiatives to fight climate change that benefit both the environment and people. To maximize carbon storage, my research quantifies the carbon capture capacity and growth rate of different local tree species in three different managements: agroforestry, enhancement planting in existing fallows and timber plantations. For the project to align with the different stakeholder’s interest, I am assisting participants in creating a theory of change and identifying the core elements of an evaluation framework.
