Colombian paramos: a study of environmental borders and livelihoods
My doctoral research examines the production of environmental borders and the consequences that these definitions have on people’s livelihoods and their access to resources. In particular, I examine the economic, social and political factors that influence the process of defining environmental borders, including the use of environmental science discourses. My research focuses on paramos, high-elevation neotropical ecosystems characterized by their richness in water, minerals and endemic species.
