Plasticity of rare and common marin polychaetes face Global Change
Emissions of carbon dioxide from anthropogenic sources have increased to unprecedented ways. Over the next century, marine metazoans will deal with higher sea surface temperature and also ocean acidification. These changes will affect life history ans physiology of organisms and also biodiversity. This context lead us to question about the ability of marine species to acclimate in a changing environment. Phenotypic plasticity is the first mecanism permetting individuals acclimation and is link to species biogeography. A better understanding of individuals responses face Global Change according to their distribution is then important in a context of biodiversity conservation. The objectives of this study are to determine if rare and common species respond differently to Global Changes in a marine environment and determine if transgenerational plasticity can make buffer effects against Global Change impacts. To answer this, two species of polychaete gender Ophryotrocha, with different biogeography, are exposed to four Global Change scenarios predict for the year 2 100. Life history traits and eggs morphometry were mesure on a 5 months period. Metabolomic analyses will permit to link life history changes observed in differents conditions to energetic metabolism.
