L\u2019Atlas de la biodiversit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec nordique est un ambitieux projet qui comporte plusieurs volets qui doivent permettre de soutenir la mise en \u0153uvre de certains projets gouvernementaux, notamment la poursuite du d\u00e9veloppement d\u2019un r\u00e9seau d\u2019aires prot\u00e9g\u00e9es du Qu\u00e9bec, adapt\u00e9 aux changements climatiques. Si le volet sur la connaissance de la biodiversit\u00e9 repose en grande partie sur les donn\u00e9es d\u2019inventaires effectu\u00e9s par le minist\u00e8re du D\u00e9veloppement durable de l\u2019Environnement et des Parcs (MDDEP) et par le minist\u00e8re des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune (MRNF), le volet climatique a fait appel aux comp\u00e9tences et au financement du Consortium Ouranos, puisque ce volet s\u2019inscrivait parfaitement dans la th\u00e9matique \u00ab \u00c9cosyst\u00e8mes et biodiversit\u00e9 \u00bb, un des th\u00e8mes prioritaires du Plan d\u2019action sur les changements climatiques du Gouvernement du Qu\u00e9bec (PACC \u2013 26- Fonds Vert) administr\u00e9 par Ouranos.<\/p>\n
De nombreuses \u00e9tudes ont d\u00e9montr\u00e9 que les r\u00e9gions nordiques et polaires sont et seront des territoires fortement touch\u00e9s par les changements climatiques. Ces r\u00e9gions subiront en particulier des changements dans les moyennes de temp\u00e9rature et de pr\u00e9cipitations, dans leur distribution ainsi que dans leurs extr\u00eames. Au Qu\u00e9bec, ces changements auront des impacts qui affecteront diff\u00e9rents secteurs de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 et de l\u2019environnement.<\/p>\n

Pour mieux comprendre l\u2019\u00e9tendue des cons\u00e9quences climatiques \u00e0 venir, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 confi\u00e9 au Centre pour la Science de la Biodiversit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec le mandat de r\u00e9aliser une revue de litt\u00e9rature* qui comporte quatre chapitres, en insistant plus particuli\u00e8rement sur les effets attendus dans le nord du Qu\u00e9bec. D\u2019avril \u00e0 octobre 2010, sous la supervision scientifique de quatre chercheurs du CSBQ, onze \u00e9tudiants on effectu\u00e9 une vaste recherche bibliographique qui a permis de rassembler 1892 r\u00e9f\u00e9rences dans une base de donn\u00e9e bibliographique qui sera accessible et consultable depuis le site du CSBQ. La lecture de ces milliers de documents a permis de s\u00e9lectionner les r\u00e9f\u00e9rences les plus pertinentes (916 r\u00e9f\u00e9rences sont cit\u00e9es) qui se retrouvent dans les quatre chapitres th\u00e9matiques de la revue de litt\u00e9rature.<\/p>\n

While the section on biodiversity knowledge is based largely on inventory data gathered by the Department of Sustainable Development, Environment and Parks (Minist\u00e8re du D\u00e9veloppement durable de l\u2019Environnement et des Parcs \u2013 MDDEP<\/a>) and the Department of Natural Resources and Wildlife (Minist\u00e8re des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune\u00a0 - MRNF<\/a>), the climate section relies on the skills and funding of the Ouranos Consortium, given its ideal fit within the \u201cEcosystems and Biodiversity\u201d theme, one of the priorities of the Government of Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s Climate Change Action Plan (PACC\u201326 Fonds Vert), administered by Ouranos. Many studies have shown that northern and arctic regions are being, and will continue to be, strongly affected by climate change. These regions in particular will undergo changes to their average temperature and precipitation, both within the regions\u2019 core areas as well as at their extremities. In Qu\u00e9bec, these changes will have impacts affecting various sectors of society and the environment. In order to better understand the scale of future impacts of climate change, the Quebec Centre for Biodiversity Science\u00a0was given the task of creating a literature review* consisting of four chapters, with a particular focus on the impacts to Northern Qu\u00e9bec. From April to October 2010, under supervision of four QCBS researchers, eleven students created an extensive bibliographic database (1892 citations) that will be able to be accessed through the QCBS website.
