To improve the training of graduate students, the QCBS offers competitive funding awards to support participation in conferences, training courses, and internships.

In its first four rounds of excellence awards, between spring 2010 and summer 2011, the QCBS provided over $135,000 to support 67 QCBS students and postdocs. The awards helped students to participate in conferences, workshops, and internships worldwide, including Canada, the US, Mexico, the UK, Germany, Portugal, France, Germany, Australia, Korea, Brazil, Uganda, and Tanzania.
Following the last call for FQRNT international internship proposals, three QCBS students were allocated a total of $34,750 for international internships in Switzerland, Australia, and the US.
