To improve the training of graduate students, the QCBS offers competitive funding awards to support participation in conferences, training courses, and internships.

QCBS Excellence awards
Up to its ninth edition of excellence awards, between spring 2010 and fall 2013, the QCBS provided over $351,184 to support 192 QCBS students and post-docs. The awards helped them to participate in conferences, workshops, and internships worldwide.

FRQNT international internship program
Between 2010 and 2013, the QCBS students received international internship from the FRQNT for a total of $88,028 allowing them to benefit from world class training opportunities in the best facilities worldwide:
- 2010 -Three QCBS students were allocated a total of $34,750 for international internships in Switzerland, Australia, and the US.
- 2012 -Four QCBS students were allocated a total of $26,075 for international internships in Austria, Denmark, Scotland, Switzerland, and England.
- 2013 -Three QCBS students were allocated a total of $27,203 for international internships in Norway, Sweden and the US.
QCBS Biodiversity Science Discovery Awards (BSDA)
As part of its funding program aiming at undergraduate students, the QCBS initiated the BSD awards in 2012, providing a unique opportunity to outstanding and promising undergraduate students with funding to support their participation in QCBS member’s laboratory or field projects. For the first year, 8 students from McGill, U de M, and UQAM have received $12,000 to get exposed to biodiversity science research.
