Evaluating the factors that influence brown marmorated stink bug Halyomorpha halys Stål (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) egg abortion by the parasitoid wasp Telenomus podisi Ashmead (Hymenoptera: Platygastri
Originally from Asia, Halyomorpha halys (brown marmorated stink bug) has been discovered in North America (Pennsylvania) in the early 2000s. Currently present in more than 30 american states, the stink bug has been recently discovered in southern Ontario and Quebec. Telenomus podisi is a parasitoïd wasp that reproduce in laying eggs into stink bug eggs. The wasp also attacks Halyomorpha halys, but is unable to reproduce. Although, Telenomus podisi provokes a higher abortion rate than natural abortion (without parasitism). Is goal of the research is to determine: 1- If the factors leading to Halyomorpha halys egg abortion by Telenomus podisi is genetic or phenotipic traits 2- If it is possible to amplify the traits responsible for the egg abortion.
