Education Postdoc, University of Wisconsin-Madison (Wisconsin, USA), 2002 Ph.D., University of British Columbia (British Columbia, Canada), 2000 M.Sc., University of Calgary (Alberta, Canada), 1995 B.Sc., University of Guelph (Ontario, Canada), 1992 Research My research program is currently centred on three themes: (1) spatial ecology; (2) causes and consequences of biodiversity in aquatic ecosystems; and (3) invasion ecology. Overall, these themes are linked by my interest in community ecology, especially in lake plankton communities. In my research, I use a variety of field-based approaches, from large-scale whole lake studies to smaller scale experimental work in mesocosms as well as modelling. I work to link my interest in fundamental ecological theory of how interacting population dynamics structure aquatic communities with applied issues that currently affect freshwater ecosystems like exotic species, global climate change and water quality.
